Deuce Golf

Deuce Golf is another “Pearl of Golf. You score Deuce Golf exactly like you score tennis.

This is another self esteemed based golf scoring system that attempts to level the playing field for golfers of different abilities and make golf more fun for the amateur. It is competitive yet non-competitive at the same time if played with players of similar talents. Not recommended for large mismatches in abilities as that just makes the better player a show off and a golfing bully!

Here is Deuce Golf works (notice how short the rules are):

Each hole must be won by two strokes to score one point. If at the end of each hole the score is Deuce, you simply move on to the next hole all square.

Time permitting (as long as you do not slow down play) if you hit your first drive out of the fairway or OB you can hit another ball with no penalty.

At the end of eighteen holes the player with the most points wins. I played this method with my friend Charlie (I call him "Coach") the final score was Charlie 3 - Greg -2.

It's OK to play lift, clean and cheat if you agree to it before you tee off.

We divided honors (who tees off first) into 4 sections: One player always tees off first for the first six holes, the second player for the next six holes. After that honors returns to the first player for three holes and the second player for three holes to complete eighteen.

Deuce Golf is Match play (2 players)

Observation:

What Deuce Golf discourages is blow up holes (big numbers like snow men or greater).

Newsflash

No one likes a golf tip from a TV pro better than me but here is where it gets tricky: "See the putt going in the hole.", "Believe you are going to make the putt.", "See yourself as a good putter." "The game is between your ears."

This is sage advice for sure, however, it does make a difference that the TV pro who says these things plays golf every day and you don't. It's like seeing yourself winning the Tour de France except you only train on your bike once per week!

Three putting in Twenty-2-One golf is not something that needs to be fixed. Three is a biblical number. I putt for the Father, Son  and the  Holy Ghost. The fourth putt is the Great Amen and a five putt is the Glory Halleluiah! Sometimes I am in an International mood. I putt for Buddha, Ganesh and the Chinese Dragon. Tough pin locations lend themselves to the Jewish religion: a nine  putt for the  Menorah! Don't fix my putting. It messes with my relationship with God.
